As promised, we’ve focused this week on making profiles prettier. After going back-and-forth over the merits of something that looks more like a traditional ’social network’ profile (for those looking for a MySpace/Facebook type of experience) and something that looks more like a ‘blog,’ (for those looking for a Blogger/Wordpress type of experience) we’ve decided to just empower users to make the choice for themselves.
Now by going to ‘My Profile’ –> ‘My Theme and Picture,’ you can also toggle your profile view:

We’ll be evolving both of these views this week and over time, and we’d love to hear your thoughts on what you’d like to see!
For those who haven’t been invited to the private beta yet, we’re looking to make big leaps in the # of people we invite starting this week. So, standby; you should be seeing something soon.
A bonus for the super-attentive: instant invites to the private beta for the first 5 commenters on this post. Just pass along an email address.
Since we first launched our private beta 3 weeks ago, we’ve been working hard to improve performance, patch up bugs, and make sure all the little bells and whistles work perfect. We’ve also added a handful of new features, including:
- Support for multiple kids under a single account
- A brand spanking new, flash-based batch photo-uploader
- A ‘Tickle’ feature (like poking on Facebook; but its tickling — for Tots)
- A slew of new ‘Firsts’ (thanks for your suggestions!)
- A basic Search feature (you can find it under the ‘Invite Friends’ menu, for now)
In the coming weeks our focus is going to be on revamping the visual presentation of the TotSpot pages you’re creating. We want these pages to be beautiful — your kids deserve nothing less. We’re also trying to strike the right balance between what is more of a ‘blog-like’ presentation and something that looks more like a social network profile.
As always, we love hearing your views. Feel free drop us a line to tell us what you think a beautiful TotSpot page should look like or tell us other things you’d like to see us working on.
If you haven’t yet, check us out on Twitter — a great way to keep tabs.
